POWER IN WOMEN’S HAND

MEN TEACHERS OBJECT

INDIGNANT REJOINDER.

EQUAL CHANCES CLAIMED.

By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 1. Women teachers assembled in conference at Canterbury are highly indignant that there are men in their own profession who declare that they cannot work under women. Mrs. F. Day, a member of the central council, asked why they should object. Prime Ministers worked under Queens, public servants to-day worked under Miss Bondfield, and soldiers followed Boadicea and Joan of Arc. The conference passed a resolution that all avenues of promotion should be open to women equally with men. The Daily Express in an editorial supports the men, saying that few people, men or women, like working under a woman as the gift of using power and authority , tactfully is rarely bestowed on women.
