DEATH FROM POISONING
TWO CHILDREN DEAD. Hamilton, Dec. 26. Two young Maori children were found dead in bed at a pa near Tauwhare this morning, having apparently eaten poison. The children wore:— Wera Wera, a girl, aged 14 years. Jack Kara, a boy, aged six years. The adult natives of the pa, which is situated between Fencourt and Tauwhare, went to another pa at Tauwhare last evening, to attend a wedding feast, and the two children were left behind by themselves. < When the adults went to call the children this morning they wore dead on a shelf. In the room was a tin containing poison, which had been used for destroying rabbits. Dr. Todd, of Cambridge, examined the bodies to-day, and expressed the opinion that they had died as a result of con-1 suming some of the poison. |
