BILLLY BOYS’ WORKSHOP

A USEFUL TOWEL ROLLER. i (By Tho Hut Carpenter.) 'A towel-roller is a useful article to Shake, and I am sure mother would appreciate one. The roller is simply a piece of new broom handle sawn to a length of 18 inches, while the spindles at the ends aro pieces of wooden curtain rods five pghtl... of an inch in diameter. With your brace and centre bit make ihole two inches deep in each end of lio roller, to fit the spindles. These liould be sawn to lengths of three and a alf inches ami then pushed into the olos made to receive them. Now with a quarter-inch bit make two holes at right Anglos near each end of the roller, passing through the spindles, and drive short pegs into these holes to hold the ’Spindles ...inly in place. The lower eenfro diagram will make this clear. F Th© end brackets can be sawn to shape 3ya’ sizes given at A, a iholo 'being made jji one. and a slot in the other.for receiving tho roller spindles. U'ho backboard. consists of a piece of

jrood five eighths of an inch thick, sawn thd planed to the sizes in the top diujl’ftin. With yoftr plane, carefully ’bevel h front edge's and then make six holes hreo sixteenths of an inch in diameter,

for the fixing screws, as shown. The top (Barts of these holes should bo counterBunk, and .to do this you will require a rose-bit— sketched in the lower felt Borner. This bit is used in the brace the ghmo way as a centre bit. After giving all the parts a good rub Syith glass paper, fix each bracket to the mckboard by two one and a half inch Screws driven into the countersunk holes jp the back of the board. Give the backboard a coating of white Shamcl, but do not paint the other parts, fi ow the complete fitment in a convenient position on tho back of a door fiv six screws, and stand back to admire ®j»u, handiwork!
