N. PLYMOUTH LABOUR PARTY
NOMINATION OF OFFICERS. At a meeting on Saturday night of the New Plymouth Labour Party there was a large attendance. Satisfaction was expressed at the favourable position of Mr. W. Nash, Labour candidate in the Hutt by-election. The following were nominated by the branch for positions on the national executive, tha election of which takes place at the forthcoming conference:— President, Mr. James Thorn; vice-presi-dent, the Rev. J. K. Archer; secretary, Mr. W. Nash; national executive, Messrs. R. Semple, M. Fagan, T. Brindle, A. Atkinson, W. Bromley. During the evening Mr. B. Thorne, chairman of the Labour Party, Blaenavon, South Wales, England, was welcomed. Mr, Thorne has consented to address branch members on the question of the general strike in Great Britain.
Reports were handed in by delegates; to the League of Nations Union and Labour Representative Committee. Mr. Jamieson, as secretary of the Workers’ Social Hall board of trust, submitted a report on hall matters.
