GOLDMINING IN NEW GUINEA

COMPANY FORMED IN AUCKLAND. (By Wire—Special to News.) Auckland, Dec. 16. A company formed for the purpose of prospecting for gold in a New Guinea field has been registered in Auckland. The name of the concern, a public one, is the New Zealand New Guinea Exploration Company, Limitd. The authorised capital is £15,000 in 60,000 shares of 5s each, of which 40,000 are to be offered to the public, 15,000 held in reserve and 5000 allotted to vendors of the scheme, Mr. J. H. G. Banks, manager for the Waihi Gold-mining Company at Waikino, and Mr. D. G. M. Matheson, who has done exploration work in the auriferous areas in New Guinea.

According to prospectus Mr. Matheson lias been engaged for the past five years in exploration in New Guinea. He is a former New Zealander, having received his training at Waihi.
