SOCIAL EVENING GIVEN. At the last social for the year of the New Plymouth Orchestral Society at the home of Miss E. Dowling, the following musical programme was given:— Mrs. *Chick (piano solo), Mrs. Martini and Mrs. Clarke (songs), Mr. R. George (violin), Mrs. Mills (violin), Mr. Bosworth (flute), Mrs. Chick, Messrs. Geor<>e Allen, Bosworth (instrumental quartet), Mrs. Chick, Messrs. Rennell, Mills (piano trio), Miss E. Dowling (reading). The ping-pong tournament was won by Mr. Bosworth, games being contested as follow: — , T . First Round.—Miss Barlow 31 v. Miss Dowlin" 21: Mr. Gibbons 31 v. Mr. Mills 23’ Mn Allen 31 v. Mr. Chick 25; Mr. Bu’tler 31 v. Miss Allen 19; Mr. Rennie 31 v. Miss George 22. Second Round—Miss Barlow 31 v. Mr. Gibbons .17; Mr. Allen 31 v. Mr. Butler 10; Miss Allen 31 v. Mr. Rennie 12; Miss Barlow 31'v. Mr. Allen 10. Final. —Mr. Bosworth 31 v. Miss Barlow 21. , ~ Durin" the evening a presentation was made to Mrs. Chick, the society’s accompanist.
