Only seven years previously another celebrated man passed away on this date. He was a French navigator, named Samuel do Champlain. • He made voyages .to the then wonderful new world .in the west' (America). He accomplished a lot of wonderful work - for liis country.'-But'he is most'celebrated tor a voyage he made up the river 'St.' Lawrepc® in Canada, in order to found a colony. That tiny colony is now the great city of Quebec.
