WAITARA CONVENT FAIR
BAZAAR OPENED YESTERDAY. Inclement weather did not deter the people of Waitara from attending the bazaar opened in the Clifton hall yesterday in aid of the funds of the Waitara Convent.
The bazaar was opened by Mr. E. A. George, Mayor of Waitara, who remarked on the well-stocked stalls and felt sure the cilort would be in every way a success.
The fair opened with a swing and the busy workers were soon finding-clients for their wares. Patronage was generous and in every way the opening of the bazaar was a success. The elfort will continue to-day and conclude this evening. Mr. Rennie’s orchestra provided a fine selection of music. 1 items last night and will be heard again to-niglit. The fair was organised by the Rev. Father Henley and the workers at the various stalls were: Fancy stall, Mesdames Cooney, Wordsworth, Neill and Higgins; cake and sweets stall, Mes- : dames Wilson, Finnerty, Waters and Moira; produce stall, Mesdames La Pouple, Cain, Elliott, McGregor; soft drinks and ices, Mrs. M. Fahy; Christmas tree, Mesdames Easton, Goddard and Miss Hall; Father Christmas, Mr. J. Poultridge; Christmas fairies, Misses Myrie McGregor and Joan Shea; sideshows, Messrs. W. Woodsworth, R. Langman, C. Finnerty, S. Goddard and Crane; tea rooms, Mesdames Mellor, Cole and the Misses Mellor (3). The daintily decorated and laden stalls promise to be well patronised to-day and to-night, and judging by the opening success, the Waitara Convent funds should be considerably swelled as the result of the effort.
