SIR STUDD’S SISTER-IN-LAW ‘ANTI-REVOLUTIONARY’ WORK; DEATH SENTENCE POSSIBLE; By Telegraph—Pres» Assn.—Copyright. London, Dec. 3. According to information from Leningrad there is a danger of death sen-; tence in the case of Princess Sophie Lievin, -sister-in-law of Sir Kynaston: Studd, ex-Lord Mayor of London, whoj was arrested and is now in the Lubi-i anka gaol, reports the Riga correspon-, dent of the Morning Post. It is stated that she occupied a position in a library, and is accused of participating • in an anti-Soviet conspiracy and also in-the White Guardi st Wars, and she-, ■will be court-martialled.
According to reports from Moscow her anti-revolutionary activities consisted of holding Sunday schools for the benefit of working-class children and reading the Bible. The prosecution is believed to have been instigated by a notorious anti-God society. Lady Studd, who is a Russian, said she knew her' sister loyally abided by the Bolshevik regime and devoted herself to helping the poor, , -
