PROGRESS OF BOY SCOUTS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) At the monthly meeting of the Kaponga Scout troop committee the following members ■were present: The Rev. P. J. Cossum (chairman), Messrs. H. Brewer, J. Tattersall, R. Gwyn (Scoutmaster) and C. A. Corder (secretary). The Scoutmaster reported that the Cubs and Scouts had been separated, and now paraded on different nights. The Cubs, in charge of Cubmaster V. Betts, paraded on Wednesday evenings and the Scouts on Friday evenings.' The average attendance of the troop for the month was 88 per cent. Seven Scouts had passed their Tenderfoot examinations, and the others were well advanced. The Scouts were still on Tenderfoot work and drill, and had started to learn the Dominion Boy Scout haka On October 12 an afternoon parade was held, at which ten Scouts passed .in cooking, firelighting, Scout-pace and tracking for their second-clas badges. The majority of the Scouts have now obtained their uniforms. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the Scoutmaster’s report, expressed pleasure at the fine showing of the boys, the committee having that evening inspected the troop. The question of a monthly inspection of the Cubs and Scouts by the committee was brifly discussed, and it, was decided that the cubs shall be inspected on the first Wednesday of the month and the Scouts on the last Friday, the committee to meet on the last Friday of each month. Air. Ken Albon was appointed assist-ant-Cubmaster.

Now that a good number of the Scouts have passed their Tenderfoot test, it becomes necessary for the investiture ceremony to be performed, and it was decided to hold this ceremony in the Town Hall at an early date, The Commissioner for South Taranaki, Mr. F. W. Horner, Hawera, who has been a good friend to the committee, has consented to come to Kaponga and perform the ceremonies, and the investiture will take place on Monday evening, December 10.
