BUILDING IN NEW PLYMOUTH
SLIGHT DEGREASE IN NOVEMBER. FIGURES FOR YEAR STILL AHEAD. A comparatively quiet month for building is shown by the number of permits issued from the borough inspector’s office, New Plymouth, during-November. Not only was there a decrease of £593 in the value of the permits issued, when compared with the corresponding period of 1928, but the total of £7873 is the second smallest for any montpi this year, the figures for February alone being lower. Neither in November, 1929, nor in November, 1928, were any outstanding business ventures launched. Permits for residences totalled nine compared with ten in 1928, and for alterations and additionjs eleven, compared with seven in 1928. Thanks to large increases in the figures for January, July and October, 1929, over those of the same months ■in 1928, the aggregate value of permits issued during the eleven months of the year still exceeds that of the eleven months of 1928, Details are: —
