SHEEP DOG TRIALS

TARANAKI CENTRE GROUP. 11 The group committee of the Taranaki centre of the Sheep Dog Trials Association met last week. Present: Messrs. H. V. Gower (chairman), P. Brown (El-tham-Takau), H. R. Scott (Hawera), T. t. Curry (Whangamomona), J, E. Edwin r (Waihi), L. Bunn( Mangaelm), and H. Lambert (Tarata). 1 Mr. P. Brown was appointed permanently to the secretaryship; Mr. Bunn moved that three challenge cups be provided for the next championship meeting, allotted to Taranaki. The cups would be for the long head, short head, hunt-away events, and would be paid for by the centre in the event of ' the association not doing so. The association’s three gold medals would be awarded to and retained by the -winners. The motion was seconded by Mr. Scott. An amendment" moved by Mr. Lambert, and seconded by Mr. Edwin, provided that the cups should be won outright and paid for by the club responsible for the meeting. The motion was carried. It was decided-by ballot that Tarata should organise next year’s championship meeting at about tlie usual date for the Tarata trials. In future no more than two Taranaki clubs are to run trials after the championships are held. Mr. W. Whyte, Napier, will be asked to act as judge, with Mr. C. Haye, Masterton, as substitute. An additional nomination fee of 6d. to meet executive expenses will be charged for entries in the group trophy classes. x
