PROTEST OF 'RAILWAY SERVANTS, By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last .Night. At the monthly meeting of the OtagQ branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants the following resoluj tion was carried unanimously: “Thai this meeting enters an. emphatic pro* test at the failure of the Government to restore the salary cuts to our mem*, bers, ‘ especially in view of the jaubstan* tial increase recently ' granted of Parliament.” ’> TARANAKI P. AND T, RESOLUTION STRONG RESENTMENT EXPRESSED, The following resolution, was unani-/■ hiously carried at a largely attended meeting of members of the Taranaki Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association last night:— “That the Taranakt section of th® Post and Telegraph Employees’ Associa* tion expresses- its keen resentment at the decision of Parliamehtarians refus-. ing the long overdue* adjustments in salaries to the lower-paid grades of the service. Further, we emphatically protest against the inconsistency of the majority of Parliamentarians voting themselves a special allowance of £IOQ —double the amount of their “cuts”-* and declining, per medium -of political. ? tactics, to restore to a reasonable limit salaries and wages to members of this service. We have documentary evidence that during the election campaign ft large majority of candidates and sitting members evinced a keen desire for salaries improvements in the service, Finally, since our association has ‘eon* stitutionally explored every possible avenue in an endeavour to induce the Government to assess salaries and commensurate with the value of rendered, we strongly urge the Dominion executive to make provision to proceed with the question of an arbitration system of salary assessment.”
