At the wool sales 11,869 bales were sold, of which 3449 bales were New Zealand. There was an excellent selection and a large attendance. There was animated competition and few withdrawals. Prices, compared with the October closing rates, were as follows: Merinos, tine Continental sorts, 5 per cent, dearer; long, broad-haired, 10 per cent., and crossbreds, fine, 7J per cent. Slipes and lower grades 5 per cent, dearer. Finer; firm and unchanged. DAIRY PRODUCE MARKET. The butter market is firmer at 170 s -to 174 a for salted and 182 s up to 188 s for unsalted, states cabled advice received by Newton King, Ltd. The cheese market is steady at 92s to 945, for coloured and 93s to 95s for white. > STOCK SALES AT HAMILTON. FIRMER RATES FOR SHEEP. Hamilton, Nov. 19. Over 1000 cattle were yarded for the stock sale at Frankton to-day. Most of these were bullocks from the west coast, and were purchased at date rates. The attendance of buyers was good, and bidding was lively. Sheep and pigs were yarded in good numbers, rates for sheep being firmer. A message from Winnipeg states that' wheat soared 4j to 5 1-8 cents higher to-day on reports of black rust hi the Argentine. . Similar action took place in Chicago and the Eastern markets. November wheat closed at 13G 3-8 cents. Parts of the Argentine crops in the province of Cordoba are described as nearly a failure. The black rust has been intensified by the sultry weather.
