DOMINION RIVER FISHERIES

RESEARCH COMMITTEE'S PLANS. • By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. A meeting of the Central Research Committee on river fisheries was held at Christchurch to-day to formulate a scheme of research and plans for carrying it out. It is proposed at the outlet to concentrate upon a detailed study of trout rivers in the Canterbury and Wellington districts. Observations will be made upon aquatic organisms in relation to the physical, and biological characters, of their environment. Their abundance and distribution and the growth rate of trout will be studied in connection with the natural food supply, and the possibility of improving conditions by the introduction of fresh food forms will be investigated.
