GOLF AT WAIWAKAIHO

LADIES’ HOLD TOURNAMENT SEASON’S TROPHIES PRESENTED. RESULTS OF YESTERDAY’S PLAY. t The New Plymouth Ladies’ Golf Club held a one-day tournament, yesterday, preceding the presentation of prizes ceremony. The weather conditions were perfect and the course was in excellent order.

In the morning a match was played between teams selected by the captain and the secretary and resulted in a rather decisive win for the latter. In the afternooft there was a medal round over <2 holes and driving, approaching and putting competitions. • At the conclusion of the play the club captain, Mrs. C. H. Weston, congratulated the club on a very successful season and expressed confidence in their future success. She called upon Mrs; E. A. Walker, wife of the club's president, to present the trophies for the year. At the conclusion of this ceremony Mrs. Weston made two presentations on behalf of the members. The first, fa beautiful rose bowl, was to the honorary secretary, Mrs. C. M. HiU, who, she said, had always been a host in herself. In fact, the committee had done hardly anything during the year; they had left everything to Mrs. Hill, and it had all been done well. The other presentation, an Amphora vase, was to Mrs. Saunders, who, in addition to providing a splendid afternoon tea, was always unfailingly cheery and obliging. . Other prize winners for the . season were Mrs. Russell, Miss Gavin, Miss Dell, Miss Smart, Miss Shaw, Mrs. Wyatt, Mrs. McQuade, Miss Home, Miss Grover, Mrs. Rea, Miss Nicholson, Mrs. Stainton, Mrs. Strang, Miss Morton, Mrs. Nicholson, Mrs. Duff, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Waterston, Miss Blundell, Miss Thomson, Miss Horner, Mrs. Larsen, Mrs. Fraser, Miss Brewster and Miss Rollo. The cake donated by Mrs. Saunders was won by Mrs. Hammond-Williams. Following are the results of yesterday’s competitions: —
