'Brilliant entertaining cricket was seen on the resumption of England’s second innings against South Australia to-day. The weather was dull and there was a slight shower during the afternoon, but the wicket is wearing well. The Englishmen’s second innings of 416 left the home team to make 326-to win. When stumps were drawn five wickets were down for 40 runs. Duleepsinhji carried his score to 54 when he was stumped off Grimmett. Turnbull and Worthington went cheaply. Then Nichols and Woolley were associated in an attractive partnership, producing 136 runs. Woolley- made 146 in 20-8 minutes. He hit fifteen fours, and one six, and played a brilliant, forceful innings. Nichols was- equally vigorous but less polished. Earle hit Grimmett for six three times in one over. Nichols was in for 2hr 14min and hit six fours. . England’s innings left South Australia the task of getting 326 for victory Grimmett and Wall, the test bowlers, finished with poor averages, 'both proving expensive. ’ South Australia began disastrously. Hone and Harris, the opening batsmen, took the score to 28. Then Hone, Harris and Prichard were dismissed without any addition to the score.
