ANGLO-INDIAN RELATIONS
SIR JOHN SIMON’S ADVICE ATTITUDE OF NATIVE STATES CONFERENCES TO BE HELD By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Australian Press Association. Received Oct. 31, 11.30 p.m. London, Oct. 31. The India Office publishes correspondence between Sir John Simon, as head of the Indian Statutory Commission, and the Prime Minister, the former pointing out that whatever should be its final report it would be wise to take account of the relations between British India and the Indian States.
Sir John Simon suggests that when the commission’s work is completed the Government should confer with the representatives of British India and the States in order to secure the greatest possible measure of agreement. Mr. Ramsay MacDonald replied that he had first consulted the leaders of other political parties, who would accept the suggestion. The British Government will, therefore, summon the conferences which Sir John Simon suggested.
