CUSTOMS DUTIES DECREASE

DROP OF OVER £lOOO FOR MONTH.

TOTAL FOR YEAR STILL GREATER. A decrease of £llB2 15s fid was recorded in the Customs duties collected at the port of New Plymouth for September, compared with the corresponding period last year. In the beer duties collected for October, 1920, there was a rise of £l3 10s fid, compared with -the figures for October, 1928. A substantial' increase in Customs duties is stiii shown for the first ten months of the year compared with the corresponding- ten months of 1028, despite the decrease suffered in the past month. Last year’s figures were £78,463 10s lid and this year’s are £83,955 Ils Bd, representing an increase of £5401 Ils fid. Excise duty figures are still lower this year than last yeap, the difference being £584 8s 7d. Details of the-collections at New Plymouth during October are: — - ' ' Customs.
