BLAZE IN MASTERTON SHOP
RADIO STOCKS MUCH DAMAGED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Masterton, Last Night. Volumes of thick smoke pouring from a two-storey wooden building in Queen Street this evening made the task of the Masterton fire brigade a difficult one in dealing with an outbreak of fire in the shop of W. D. Ansell, radio dealer. The fire, which apparently started in the radio room, had a big hold when the brigade arrived, and it was an hour’s work before the outbreak was suppressed. The building, owned by Mr, A. Bradford, suffered some damage on the ground floor with slight damage upstairs, but the stock was very considerably damaged. The building was insured for £llOO, the stock and plant for £440 and the furniture and personal effects for £l5O, all in the State office.
