GUIDES AND BROWNIES

CONCERT HELD IN NEW PLYMOUTH A concert organised by the New Plymouth district committee of the Girl ' Guides was givfen in St. Mary’s Hall, New Plymouth, last night. The hall was crowded with parents and friends. On the arrival of the Provincial Commissioner (Mrs. D. K. Morrison), the girls formed a guard of honour down the aisle. , / During the evening Mrs. Morrison - gave a brielf address congratulating the f girls upon their work and thanking parents for their support to the movement. A well-thought out programme of j items gave considerable insight into the : ■ training of the girls as well as much ■ entertainment. The programme was as follows: —Signalling and chorus, Te Mara Co.; play, Tuahine Brownies; folk : dancing, High School Co.; dumb-bell drill, Tuahene Co.; Brownies* alphabet, Te Mara Brownies; playette, Mahunui • Co.; campfire ceremony and songs, all Guides. A collection was taken up in aid of the funds and at the end of the evening supper was served by the Guides.
