A close holiday was observed in Sydney to-day for the celebration of “Eight Hours’ Day,” but the weather was sultry, overcast and generally unpleasant. 1 Thousands of trade unionists participated in the usual procession/ which afforded Labour men an excellent chance to display electioneering propaganda. There were also some splendid tableaux, eymbolical of the different industries, with silken banners and braes bands interspersed at intervals.
