SEQUEL TO FIRE INQUIRY
OWNER OF HOUSE FOUND DEAD. SUPPOSED CASE OF SUICIDE. By Telcgra.pih.—Press Association. Christchurch, Oct. 5. At 10.36 a.m. to-day Albert Victor Clements, a married man with five children, aged 32, was found dead under circumstances pointing to suicide. Deceased until recently resided at 22 Holly Road, and was concerned in an inquiry into an outbreak of fire at t’he house heard on T'hureday last. Since the fire deceased had been staying with relatives. Ho was missed last evening and it was thought he had gone to a house at' 79 Glendovy Road, Fendalton, which he owned but did not occupy. A constable went to the house this morning and •searched every room without'finding a trace of Clements. It was then noticed that the wash-house door was locked from the inside. The police broke into the building and found deceased lying on his back with his head against the gas pipe, from which the gas was escaping.
