STRATFORD SUB-EXECUTIVE. RENEWAL OF CONFIDENCE. Reference to the attacks launched against Mr. W, J. Polson as a member of Parliament because of his association with the Farmers’ Union as its Dominion president was made by Mr. M. G. Trotter, president of the Stratford subprovincial executive of the Farmers’ Union, at Saturday’s meeting. On his motion the following resolution was adonted: — “In view of the expressions of no-con-fidence passed against our Dominion president by some branches of the union, this sub-provincial executive feels that the resolutions were premature. Mr. Polson has now vindicated his position and this executive expresses -its entire confidence in'him as Dominion president.” GENERAL ITEMS. Messrs. S. J. Cuff or H. Shields have been appointed official, coaches for running and field events respectively to the Stratford Amateur Athletic Club. The first training evening will be October 23. The committee of the Stratford branch of the South Taranaki Automobile Association passed a vote of sympathy with the relatives of the late Miss. Ivy Masters at a meeting held on Friday evening. Votes of sympathy were accorded the relatives of the late Mrs. Margaret Gray, Lowgarth, and the late Mr. Alexander Cook, formerly stock inspector of Stratford, at Saturday’s meeting of the Stratford sub-provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union. Although he is shortly to remove to New Plymouth Mr. L. L. Bellringer will continue to act as secretary to the Lojal Stratford Lodge, M.V., 1.0.0. F. At last meeting of the lodge appreciation was expressed of Mr. Bellringer’s past services. WARRANTY OF CATTLE. FARMERS' UNION OPINION. Reference to the lack of protection from verbal warranties in respect of cattle was made by Mr. T. T. Murray at Saturday's meeting of the Stratford sub-provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union. “When deals are in progress between farmers affecting the sale, and purchase of dairy cattle I think it is up to the agents concerned to see that the warranty is given in writing. As a farmer I would have no hesitation in paying a little more, if necessary, if the cattle I was buying were covered by a written guarantee,” he said.
