IMPERIAL CONSTITUTION

AIMS OF PRESENT CONFERENCE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Received Sept. 0, 11.30 p.m. London, Oct. 5. Sir Harrison Moore informed the Australian Press Association that while the recommendations emanating from the constitutional conference on Tuesday may reasonably be expected to form the foundation of the Imperial Conference’s constitutional decision, he pointed out that such decisions were subject to acceptance by the Imperial and Dominion Parliaments. The present conference was practically limited to dealing with technical questions arising from the general principles laid down at the Imperial Conference in 1926, principally Royal assent to the Dominions’ legislation, the Dominions’ ex-tra-territorial legislation, the Colonial Laws Validity Act, 18G5, and the coordination of the shipping laws. The proceedings would be wholly technical and theoretical until clothed with constitutional flesh and blood at the 1930 conference.
