HOMING PIGEON RACING
NEW RECORD FOR EGMONT CLUB.. The-Egmont (New Plymouth) Homing Club’s first race of the old bird season was flown from Waverley on Saturday. The distance was 58 miles air line. The birds were favoured with a strong southerly wind and made a fresh club °record. The lofts forwarded 69 birds to the liberation point. The. stationmaster liberated Hie birds at 12.30 p.m., the winner clocking in at I. 20sec., covering the distance in 52 min. 20sec. The remaining members clocked in within a few seconds of each other. The result was:— A. Raby’s No. 607, Lulu, time 5 min. 20sec., velocity 1950.6 yards per minute •• • I J. Bellringer’s No. 558, 52min. 24sec., 1946.18 yards 2 J.
