THE WENDY HUT

' . WHERE IS THE BILLIKINS? THE HUT FOLK. ARE PUZZLED 1 Does anyone know where our Billikins is? Tink and I are growing more mystified every minute! . A" few days ago Little Blue Pigeon came fluttering against the Hut window, beating the air with his wings, and cooing softly. Tink flew to let him in, and we found tied to his leg this queer little note: “Please, Wendy Lady, donT worry about me, and don’t fret about Guardian and Tinker, Bimbo and Sprightly! We are quite safe and very happy, because we have found' a Friend on the Friendly Road who is giving us ji holiday. Will you tell the Wendy ladies and Billy boys that I haven’t forgotten them, and I will send them a message if Little Bl mt Pigeon conies back —Billikins.’’ While we. were reading the wee note, Little Blue Pigeon fluttered round and round the room, his bright eyes seeming to ask a. question, and his soft cooing voice seeming to beg us to do something. Tink said: “I believe he wants to take a message back to Billikins. You write it while I get him some corn and water.’’ . ’ ■ - And while Little Blue Pigeon perched confidently on Tink's arm, pecking at the corn she held in her hand, I wrote to our Goblin.l said: “Billikins, lad, we’re not worrying now, because we know you arc safe and happy! But we miss you sadly, and we are quite the most puzzled and bewildered people in the world! Where are you? And who is giving you a holiday? Little Blue Pigeon is bringing this note. Send another one by him, please.” Little Blue Pigeon sat quite still while we tied the note to his leg. Then he fluttered once more round the room, gave us a quick glance from his bright eyes, coo-cooed very softly as if in farewell, and flew out through the open window. So far he has not returned, but. we are watching, watching, every hour. • ■ —Wendy. Look out for our Grand New Painting Competition to be announced Next Week.
