The programme at Belmont to-day was the third round of the amateui championships, the semi-finals of the professional championship as well as an 18-hole stroke handicap match for the ' amateurs and a 36-stroke handicap : match for the professionals. The weai ther was perfect. The amateur match was a tie between * L. Cathro (Castlecliff) and W.- O’CallaT ghan (Hawera), and the professional match was won by N. H. Fuller. . Following are the results of to-day’s ' play:— AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. Third round; 36 holes. L. Black beat A. E. Ekstedt, 6 up and 5 to play. ' A. G Sime beat K. C. Ward, 2 and 1. S. Morpeth beat E. M. MacFarlane, . C and 7. . L. Cathro beat B. J. Smith jun., 10 find 8. PROFESSIONAL CH AMPIONSHTP. Semi-final. A. J. Shaw beat C. C. Clements, 4 and 3. E. J. Moss beat E. S. Douglas, 1 up.

To-morrow will provide a -splendid game. L. Cathro is a Wanganui player and a member of the Castlecliff Club. He is the personification of steadiness and accuracy. To-morrow will try him out to the fullest when the plays . Morpeth, but whatever the. result may prove he is sure to put up a very creditable game. . . ' Shaw and Moss, the professional finalists, arc both previous holders of the title, but have never met in the final. There will be a grim struggle for the on Friday.

LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. FINAL TO BE PLAYED TO-DAY. Christchurch, Last Night. Except for a stiff easterly breeze the ■conditions were excellent for the semifinals of the New Zealand ladies’ golf championships to-day. Miss D. Kay (Dunedin) played an almost flawless game in the best match •with the present holder of the championship, Miss Chrysiall,' averaging one over lours for the Wb played. The match ended at the Miss Kay winjnifig 8 and 6. -<■ Mrs. Dodgshun beat Miss -Stevens 4 and 2, neither player showing her best form. Mrs. Dodgshun was five up at the' turn. Thereafter Miss Stevens did her best to save the game, but her posit-ion was hopeless. The final , will be played to-morrow pver 36 holes. The second bogey liandicap was won in the first division by Miss Betty (Rutherford one down, from Mrs. Wooding, . two down. The second division was won by Mrs. R. McDonald, one up The Rattray Cup for the best aggregate -in the two bogey matches was won by Mrs. Wooding with a score of three down. A tie in. the Innes Cup teams’ match between Auckland A and Christchurch A was won by Auckland with a score of (843 against 345 by Christchurch.
