Wring a flannel cloth out of hot water to which a little ammonia has been added, and sponge each panel, firmly but gently. Keep a bath towel under the material, and avoid the wires, lest they rust. Dry each part well with another towel, but do not rub too hard, or the silk may •tear. Set in the .sunshine to dry as quickly as possible, and you will be very pleased with the result-
When mixing mustard, add a saltSpoonful of suit and the same quantity of moist sugar, and mix with boiling water. ..It will be found to keep .moist much longer, and have a .better taste. « * # * To improve the. appearance of a shabby umbrella sponge it with a strong solution of sweetened tea. The tea revives the colour and the sugar stiffens the fabric. ‘ * * * ■> .* A cold in the head may be relieved by putting-a few pieces of . camphor in a jug of hot water and inhaling the fumes. - • -
