EFFORTS TO SAVE SHIP FAIL

THE HOCHST FIRMLY EMBEDDED. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Colombo, Sept. 30. Every effort to refloat the stranded German steamer Hochst has failed. The ship is firmly embedded broadside on on a reef and, it is feared, if refloated will sink. The Hochst, bound from Colombo* to Europe, ran aground on September 22 on Minicoy Island, 400 miles west of Colombo. The vessel grounded when passing through a narrow channel between two reefs in heavy seas and thick mist, being disabled.
