ROUND THE WORLD ’PHONE
SERVICE IN UNITED STATES. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Oct. I, 9.25 p.m. New York, Oct. 1. The round-the-world radio telephone circuit of the American Telephone and Telephone Company was again put at the service to-day of ten New York citizens, who took turns at talking with Australia through the standard desk telephone of Dr. Jewett, a company official. The service was through London and the voices travelled the great circuit route from Auburn, New York, to Australia. Dr. Jewett explained: "It requires about 3ft seconds to put a call through to Australia, yet the 15 hours’ difference in the time is an obstacle to the service.” -
