EAST END BATHING RESORT

IMPROVEMENTS BEING MADE, A meeting of the East End Reserve Committee was held in New Plymouth last night. Present: Messrs. A .R. Milne (chairman), F. Coleman, F. Nicholson. C. Abbott, V. Sliarrock. J. Milroy and T. G. Solo (hon. secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs. J. S. Lister, A. Paynter, G. Pascoe, F. Eady and F. Morris. The district engineer of the Railways Department reported' that the committee’s request to. form a-metal path giving access from Autere .-Street to the cattle creep was approved. Permission was also given to erect a close boarded fence. It was decided to proceed with the work. The grade of the path is to be .reduced, from 1 in., 4 to 1 in 8. . The works committee reported that the cost- of-. conveniences in. the .men’s dressing shed was estimated at £3 13s 3d. Drainpipes, the chairman reported, had been procured. It was decided that the material be obtained by Mr. Coleman. The matter of re-painting the tennis courts green was left to the secretary and the caretaker. ■ It was decided to consider the matter of obtaining metal chips for keeping down the dust on the earth fillings. A vote of thanks was passed to the ladies who provided afternoon tea for the carpenters’ bee building the shop. A vote of condolence was passed with the relatives of the late Mr. C. Warren.
