CORRESPONDENCE
OPUNAKE FOOTBALLERS. (To tho Editor.) Sir, —In reference to tho complimentary ball promoted in honour of the Opunake senior team and officials, I think it would have been a very fitting occasion to have presented the Des Forges Cup to the Opunake third grade team, the winners of the third grade competition. No doubt as you are aware there are 12 members at present playing in the Opunake senior team who have been through tho third grade competitions, and 1 think a little more consideration might have been shown the third grade boys when presenting the McMasters Shield. I understand that each outside club was presented with two complimentary tickets for tho ball, and I think tho manager of the Opunake junior and third grade teams should have been treated likewise. Unfortunately the thirds, to have the cup presented, were asked to put on a function at their own expense, which does not help to encourage the younger players, especially as they are expected to pay their own expenses during the competitions, —I am, etc., ’ • OLD SENIOR. Opunake. Aon***..
