When Harold Duncan,, aged 32, was charged at Manchester with the theft of money, the police alleged that Duncan, by altering a joint account chcqye; robbed his partner of £278 and disappeared. It' was discovered that he. had sailed by the Ormonde on May 25 for Australia and he was arrested at Colombo. He forced the. cabin door when he arrived at Port Said and hired a motor, and travelled to Cairo by the desert road. He was arrested at Cairo and remanded. .
