Brigadier H. R. Swan, manager for Australasia, and R. H. Rowland, superintendent for New Zealand of the Phoenix Insurance Co., Ltd., are visiting New Plymouth. The presentation of a fountain pen and a gold-mounted pencil to Mr. G. Henderson was made on Saturday last. Mr. Henderson has been licensee of the Criterion -Hotel, New Plymouth, during Mr. W. Graham’s absence, and the presentation was made by some of his personal friends. Mr. C. H. Wyatt, who has been Taranaki representative for the Commercial Union Assurance Co., Ltd., has received '■ advice of his promotion to the management of the Auckland branch.’ During a residence of nine years in New Plymouth Mr. Wyatt has made many friends who will be pleased to hear of his promotion to the largest of the New' Zealand branches of the company. A Wellington message reports that the death occurred suddenly on Friday afternoon of Mr. Arthur 11. Kitching, ’ who was in charge of the Commonwealth and Donpnion Line’s agency for Lloyds, and was for many years in charge of the shipping department of Messrs. Ban-. natyne and Co., Ltd. Mr. Kitching was sitting in his motor-car in a city street when he suddenly collapsed with heart seizure. He was immediately taken in the car to the ambulance station and in the ambulance to the hospital, but he was dead on arrival. Mr. Kitching was born fifty years ago at Nelson 'and leaves a widow, three daughters and two sons.
