CALEDONIANS SECURE DUFF CUP. ALBION HAVE A DEFAULT WIN. The Association football season in New Plymouth has concluded. Caledonians won the Duff Cup for senior Association football When they defeated Pirates by five goals to one at Western Park on Saturday. Had the result been reversed, Albion would have been level in points with Caledonians and a playoff would have been necessary. Aided by a strong southerly wind Pirates did most of the attacking before the interval, and it was then that McKay placed their only score. In the second spell, however, Caledonians had easily the better of the game, and had it not been for the fine defensive work of Perry Keen and his backs, the final tally would have been greater. Bremer scored in the first spell for Caledonians, while in the second goals were shot by Hill, Gardner (2) and L. Henderson. The teams were:— Caledonians.-—Corringham, L. Henderson, Bell, Fawcett, Quay, Griffin, Smith, Bremer, Gardner, Hill, Marr. Pirates. —Perry-Keen, A. Anderson, Oscroft, Darwell, White, J. Anderson, Henry, Chapman, McKay, Boyle, Hilton, Mr. G. Lawrence was the referee. At Fitzroy, Albion 1 won by default from Rangers. In a junior match played at Western Park, The Rest defeated Moturoa by two goals to one. Tracey and Marr scoreci for the winners and Christenson for the losers. Mr. R. L. Lowe was the referee. AUCKLAND DEFEATS WELLINGTON. ENGLISH TROPHY CHALLENGE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. : The English Trophy Association football challenge 'match between Auckland and Wellington, played at Blandford Park to-day, resulted in a win for Auckland by four goals to two, in a stirring struggle. Perfect weather prevailed. Spencer scored three goals for Auckland in the first half, one being the result of fine work by Innes. This made the score at the end of the spell: Auckland 3, Wellington 0. Spencer scored yet another goal shortly after the resumption, making Auckland four to nil. Then A. McLeod and Campbell scored for Wellington, making the final score: Auckland 4, Wellington 2. CHRISTCHURCH COMPETITION. Christchurch, Last Night. The semi-finals of the English Cup Association football competition here were played to-day. Thistle beat Western by 3 goals to one and Nomads beat Rangers by the same score.
