MR. SNOWDEN TAKES HIS PLACE. (British Official Wireless). Rugby, Sept. 26. During Mr. Ramsay MacDonald’s absence in the United States Mr. Philip Snowden, Chancellor of the Exchequer, will deputise as Prime Minister. Mr. MacDonald and his small party . leave London to-morrow evening and will return, according to present arrangements, during the first few days of November. Consequently when Parliament reasset’.bles on October 29 Mr. Snowden will lead the Government in the House of Commons. General Dawes, the American Ambassador, called upon the Prime Minister at Downing Street to-day and remained with him for considerably over an hour. The Prime • Minister leaves for America to-morrow, and it is understood he and the Ambassador had a final discussion regarding his mission.
