PROPOSED VISIT OF PLANES

INSTRUCTION FOR CHILDREN. AUCKLAND AERO CLUB’S PLANS. With the primary object of arousing public interest in aviation and to instruct the young people in the rudiments of flying, the Auckland Aero Club has advised the Mayor of New Plymouth, Mr. H. V. S. Griffiths, that it is arranging for the flight of two aero planes to- various parts of the North Island. The machines will arrive at the Bell Block aerodrome at 11 a.m. on October a, leaving the next morning. The club has asked the Mayor to invite the children of the various schools to visit the ground, witness the arrival of the planes and afterwards, closely inspect them and hear explanations by the pilots. The Mayor has therefore, through the Education‘Board, invited the pupils of the schools within a radius of 1.2 miles of New Plymouth, including Waitara and Inglewood, to visit the aerodrome on the Saturday, squads of 50 or less to be in charge of teachers. If for any reason the arrival of the planes should be postponed, the Mayor has. requested the Education Board to consider granting the children a holiday, should that be necessary. The Auckland- Club points out that in some countries, including America and Germany, the rudiments of flyrng are taught in the public schools.
