TELEPHONE TO BRITAIN
SERVICE TO AUSTRALIA MOOTED. British Official Wireless. . Rugby, Sept. 18. The extension of the wireless telephone service to include communication between Britain and Australia is probable within the next few weeks. Tests over an extended period have proved satisfactory and the opening of the service to the public will be announced when an agreement as to the schedule of charges has been fixed. It is believed that business houses will make wide use of the service when it comes into operation. The wireless telephone service between London and New York is now almost continuous at a charge of £9 for three minutes. Calls of an hour’s duration and sometimes longer are occasionally made by British and American financiers.
