The euchre party held in St. Patrick’s Hall on Friday evening was one of the most successful of the series. All the tables were occupied, the ladies’ prizes being awarded to Airs. A. McCormack 1 (51b° box of tea); Miss Magdalene Bartie 2. (cut glass sugar basin); Miss Monica Bartie, consolation (box of handkerchiefs), and the men’s prizes to Mr. J. Moran 1 (701 b sugar), Air. S. Coombes 2 (safety razor), Air. A. Hammond consolation (tie). Aliss R. De Castra donated the prizes. After the cards were finished a tasty supper was dispensed by the hostesses, Miss R, De Castra and Mesdames C. Callaghan and J. Alunro, who were also the organisers of the function.

A meeting of all interested in the scout movement' was held on Friday night. Mr. J. P. Burton presided over a poor attendance. The meeting decided to hold a mart on Monday, September !), in aid of the scout funds. Mesdames McCullum and Chas. Humphries, senr., to be organisers. A very large congregation attended St'. Barnabas’ Church on Sunday evening to hear Rev. D. J. Davies preach his farewell sermon. Mr. and Mrs. Davies leave for Greytown on Thursday. Master K. Urbahn has been appointed as cadet in the clerical branch of the railway department, and leaves shortly for Wellington. It is reliably reported that Mr. A. G. Hardy, harbour-master and secretary io the harbour board, has resigned.
