UNOCCUPIED HOUSE BURNT

ORIGIN OF HRE A MYSTERY.

By Telegraph.—Press Association.

Christchurch, Last Night.

A four-roomed house at Hornby owned and occupied by Mrs. S. B. Thomas was destroyed by fire on Saturday afternoon. The house had been empty since Thursday, when Mrs. Thomas and her family left for South bridge. There was no evidence of incendiarism except the fact that the house was empty for two days. Neighbours state they heard an explosion before the house was noticed to be on fire on Saturday.
