BEER PRICES RISE IN AUSTRALIA

The Federal Government’s new liqu°f taxation has brought about an all-round increase, in the retail prices of beer over the counter to the extent of a penny per glaes or pint extra. Thus a half* pint will rise from fourpence to fj v ®‘ pence, a pint from eightpenc’e to ninepence, and whisky from eightpence to ninepence pei- nobbier. Victorian hotelkeepers are’-only in* creasing the prices of bottled ales and spirits. Similar action is being taken in Queensland.
