A BOOKSELLER CHARGED

“INDECENT” PICTURE IN QUESTION

By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Aug. 30. In the Police Court Walter Stiglich, stationer, pleaded not guilty to a charge of selling an indecent document in the public view. Mr. Hanlon, for the defence, said the pictures referred to were of one woman in the nude and another draped, and were copies of pictures in the Paris Salon. Counsel submitted that another book which could be purchased all over New Zealand contained pictures of similar type, yet the police had taken no action.

The magistrate reserved his decision.
