BOROUGH OF NEW PLYMOUTH SUBSTANTIAL GROWTH THIS YEAR £110,165 FOR EIGHT MONTHS. A further slight increase in the value of new buildings in New Ply mouth for which permits were granted last month has brought the increase over the period of eight months to a substantial amount I when comparisons are made with the [figures for the same period last year. | The total value of new buildings since [January 1 this year is £110.105, coinI pared with £79,195 for the first eight months of last year. The figures for the month of August were £l-1,825 and £13,461 respectively. In the month which ended on Saturday the chief work for which a permit was issued' was the alteration - to premises for MeGruer’s, Ltd. Last year the I month of August saw the issue of perIrnits for buildings for the Egmont Pro- ! perties, Ltd., the Atlantic Oil Co., and Sister Ellis’' private hospital. These were the largest contracts fortlie month.
