RAISED A FAMILY OF 27

AMAZING OXFORDSHIRE RECORD. Should you descend upon this little Oxfordshire village of Towersoy and casually ask the first child you meet for Mr. Harry Nelms’s cottage, as like as not the answer would be: "Dad lives over there.”

Already distinguished the county wide as the father of 26 children, Mr. Nelms who is the village chimney-sweep and a part-limo farm labourer, 63 years of age, has again nut Towersey on the map by becoming the father of a 27th. The present Airs. Nelms is a second wife and had herself twice been married.

“When Air. Nelms and I married, he had 12 children, while .1 had three,” she said, “Together, we have had, including baby, 15,”

Of this remarkable Cbllectimi of 27 Nelms and three Irvings (Mrs. Nelms before her second marriage was a Mrs. Irving), no fewer than 27 are still living. The elder boys and girls contribute a little, and with this and her husband's wage, never more than a few pounds, Mrs. Nelms manages, she said, “somehow.” It takes her from 5.30 until about 0 o'clock to prepare the breakfasts!
