FOOTBALLERS’ ANNUAL BALL. The footballers’ ball held on Thursday evening was a huge success. The hall had been beautifully decorated with black and white streamers and amber and black representing the colours of the Kaponga club and Taranaki representatives respectively, together with greenery.
Coburn’s orchestra supplied the music while Miss M. Guy, M. Evans, Mr, 0. Jeffries and others provided extras, The supper was on a lavish scale, and reflected great credit on the ladies, Visitors were present from all over Taranaki. Messrs. Twist, Mercer and Guthrie capably carried on the duties of masters of ceremonies. In the novelty dances Mr. B. Sattler and partner won the spot waltz, while Sir. Kirk and Miss M. Benton won the Monte Carlo. An interesting event of the evening was the presentation of football caps to tho Kaponga fourth grade team from the Kaponga chib. Mr. Firth, who handed the caps over to the boys, on behalf of the Kaponga club, congratulated the lads on their fine record. The caps were made of black velvet, trimmed with white and a silver tassel, while in front is a monogram “K.F.C.” On behalf of the team, Mr. Brian Bradford, captain, suitably replied, and made a presentation to Mr. J. Bennie for his ever ready help as manager. Mr. Bennie replied. Mr. Firth presented three medals to the most improved, players in the Kaponga teams. They were F. Gargon (seniors). W. Murphy (juniors) and D. Walker (fourths) ’ 1
