IRON AND STEEL INDUSTRY
COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE. British Official Wireless. Rugby, July 25. Mr. W. Graham, President of the Board of Trade, announced that the inquiry into the iron and steel industry would be conducted by a sub-committee of the Committee of Civil Research. The sub-committee would consist of the Lord Chancellor, the First Lord of the Admiralty, Sir Cecil Budd, Mr. Cramp and Sir William Plender. Their terms of reference will be: To consider and report upon the present conditions and prospects of the iron and steel industries and to make recommendations as to any action which might appear desirable and practicable in order to improve the position of those industries in the markets of the world. Sir Cecil Budd is chairman of the London Metal Exchange. Mr. Cramp is a prominent trade unionist and Sir William Plender is the well-known accountant.
