Sydney, July 24.

An influenza epidemic is causing concern in the city and suburbs. Three deaths have occurred this week and a ban lias been placed on visitors at the Royal North Shore Hospital. While thousands have influenza in a mild form, many cases have necessitated hospital treatment, and all the hospitals are crowded out. Nineteen nurses are affected at Sydney Hospital. Three cases have been admitted to St, Vincent’s Hospital definitely diagnosed as pneumonic influenza. The nurses at the Western Suburbs Hospital are wearing masks and special overalls. Thirty nurses are off duty in the Prince Alfred Hospital.
