THE TARANAKI CHAMPIONSHIPS. So far the following nominations have been received for the Taranaki chess championships, which are to be held at Eltham on Friday and Saturday next: C. Poole and J. Goldstone (Hawera), E. Rutherford, C. Speck and E. Cole (Stratford). Eltham and Stratford will play a draughts match for the Felix Lehrke Chip °at. Stratford on Wednesday next. The teams will be ten aside. The position of the Eltham Club s championships is:—Chess: Avery, nlaved ’6 games, 6 points; Ansford, 8, 41; W. Lehrke, 6,3; C. Libeau, 2,2; Turner, 5,1; J. Lehrke, 4, i; Ryburn, 1, 0. Draughts: Stahners, played 12 games, 8 i points; Micklesen, 7, SJ; Chalmers, 8, 6; Ansford, 8,5; Martin, 10, 5; Lehrke, 10, 4-J; Rankin,‘B, 3J; Gargan, 6,3; Picard, 3,1; Taylor, 10, 0.
