GENERAL UPHEAVAL NEAR ATTITUDE OF ENGINE DRIVERS. UNIONS HOLDING CONFERENCE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received July 4, 8.20 p.m. Sydney, July 4. A general upheaval in the coal industry has been deferred for the present. Tho engine-drivers’ council is preparing a statement lor the information of the mining industry unions’ conference which is to be held shortly. On tho conference’s decision will depend the attitude of the Engine Drivers’ Association. Meanwhile, the coal commission is hearing further evidence from coal officials in camera.
